3 Reasons to Use Wool Dryer Balls

Happy Monday!

I love me a fresh new week.

We recently moved into a new home, in a new town, and this has been a wonderful reason to declutter even more (and I would like to think that we already have very simple routines and not very many things in general).

Something I realized when I organized my laundry room the other day: I don’t have a lot of laundry care products. Yet, our laundry care routine has proven to be very effective — just without the additives — for a while now.

It really hit me:

We’ve been able to cut out the synthetic fragrances and other endocrine disruptors by using Thieves plant-derived laundry soap, homemade odor remover, my very own DIY stain remover, as well as reusable organic wool dryer balls.

Speaking of the latter: Those have been a game changer.

Reason 1 to Get Your Hands on Some Organic Wool Dryer Balls

Did you know that just by ditching the conventional dryer sheets you can eliminate a great number of potentially harmful toxins?

It’s what sold me — especially when our oldest son, after he was born, had skin issues and the only solution that was suggested by the pediatrician at that time were cortisone and petroleum jelly, rather than looking at the root cause and making some lifestyle changes.

No use of synthetic fragrances, potential carcinogens, and/or hormone disruptors, and/or skin irritants.

Because it all lingers in our clothes, the very ones we wear day in and day out. And clothes touch our skin, which, in turn, absorbs everything so quickly.

And now we use those dryer balls with either a few drops essential oils, an aromatic wool dryer mist, or simply by themselves.

I’ve come to love laundry that is not heavily fragranced —

that doesn’t have a scent but simply smells neutral when out of the dryer (or has a very faint aroma, depending on what essential oils I used on the dryer balls).

Reason 2 to Get a Pack of Dryer Balls

Wool dryer balls are eco-friendly. Purchase ones that are certified organic New Zealand wool and they will last you 2+ years.

I also like that they naturally soften over time. I usually toss in 4-6 wool dryer balls in a medium to larger load of laundry.

No dryer sheets in the trash; no dryer sheets in landfills.

Wool dryer balls also cut drying time as they separate clothing items more effectively, hence allowing them to dry quicker.

After you’ve used wool dryer balls for some time —

you will realize how overpowering in scent these dryer sheets are (and I bet you won’t have a desire to go back to them as your nose will have developed a sensitivity to the artificial fragrance).

Reason 3 to Add Wool Dryer Balls to Your Laundry Drying Routine

They are more budget friendly.

You may have to spend more initially to get good quality dryer balls, but they will last you years and thousands of dryer cycles.

No more going to the store because your ran out of dryer sheets.

And, in addition, they are so versatile as you can add desired essential oils to them and switch up the aroma whenever you like. Or simply use without any aroma.

Have you added wool dryer balls to your laundry care regimen yet?

I am offering a sustainable dryer bundle that includes three organic wool dryer balls in my small shop. You can add items to this (gift) box, as well.
