Home Is ... Where the Countryside Is

“Home is where one starts from.” - and sometimes all we need to find our inner peace is by returning home, back to roots.

A little while ago I just needed to escape the city. Don’t get me wrong, I love the city life and am definitely not that kind of person who can imagine building a house in the countryside right now. I mean, I can certainly picture myself doing so but not yet, that’s a fact.

However, a couple of weekends ago I was super happy to just be able to leave Leipzig behind for a little bit and spend some time with the family, indulge in large breakfasts after early morning walks and runs with little Rusty and eat cake outside in the backyard while listening to the merry laughter of my little cousins right next door and watching my granny take care of her precious flowers.

I was finally home.

It’s that place where I can veg out.  It’s where I can refuel. It’s where my soul can wander. It’s where I can relax. It’s where I get a new, positive mindset when things have gone utterly wrong the week before. It’s my personal space of peace.

Throw in a little Jack Russel, my running shoes a little bit of sunshine and a wonderful scenery at 6.30 am on a Sunday morning and I am more than content.

There’s simply nothing like home and as much as I love exploring new corners on earth, the countryside will always be a place where I can re-energize, reflect upon life and let my soul relax. It’s peace. It’s quiet. It’s calmness - a basis for a fresh new start.

What is home to you?
